About the Cuckoo Old English Game
The cuckoo carries the barring gene across the whole bird, giving alternating bands of dark slate and pale blue-grey on every feather for an overall soft barred-grey appearance. Recognised in both Carlisle and Oxford standards, it is the all-over barred colour of this hard-feathered heritage game fowl, distinct from the red-based crele.
