About the Henny Old English Game
The henny (or hennie) is unusual in plumage genetics rather than colour: the cock is hen-feathered, carrying the rounded, sheen-free feathering of a female in hackle, saddle and tail instead of the male's long pointed sickles. Recognised in the Oxford standard, this hen-cock trait — caused by extra conversion of androgen to oestrogen in the skin — is a historic curiosity of Old English Game once prized in Wales and Cornwall.
