About the Gold Old English Pheasant Fowl
The Gold is the familiar and far more common of the two Old English Pheasant Fowl colours. The male shows rich bay-gold plumage with a darker back, hackles striped and tipped with black, a black-laced breast and a beetle-green tail; each body feather carries a single black crescent-shaped spangle at its tip, the marking that gives the breed its pheasant-like look. Beneath the colour it keeps the breed's rose comb, white oval lobes and hardy hill-fowl constitution.
