About the Mahogany Orloff
The historic favourite, praised by 19th-century writers as the richest-coloured of fowl and valued as the breed's best layer. The cock shows rich dark-orange-to-mahogany hackle and saddle with deep mahogany green-black-sheened wings; the hen is rich dark mahogany uniformly peppered with black over a mainly black tail. A PCGB-standardised colour on the upright, thick-necked, cold-hardy Orloff that lays tinted eggs.
