About the Blue Orpington
The Blue shows an even slate-blue body, darker on the head, hackles and tail, with each feather laced a shade darker around the edge — the classic laced-blue look. The colour comes from a single blue dilution gene, so blue does not breed true: pairing blue to blue yields roughly half blue, a quarter black and a quarter splash. A PCGB-recognised variety with all the breed's calm, soft-feathered dual-purpose character.
