About the Gold Laced Orpington
Each feather shows a dark golden-yellow ground crisply edged with a black border, giving the heavy Orpington a striking two-tone laced coat. Developed in Germany by Jobst von Veltheim (added to the German standard on 15 December 1972, originally as black-laced buff), it is harder to breed to standard than the self colours and is uncommon in the UK. The body type stays pure Orpington: big, soft-feathered and good-natured.
