About the Lavender Orpington
Lavender (also called self-blue) is an even, pale grey-blue carried uniformly across the bird, without the darker feather lacing seen in Blue. It is produced by a separate recessive lavender gene, so unlike Blue it breeds true — lavender to lavender gives all lavender chicks. Not a PCGB standard colour and much sought after, but otherwise a full Orpington: heavy, soft-feathered and calm.
