About the Splash Orpington

Splash is the palest of the blue family: a near-white or pale grey-blue ground broken by irregular darker blue and black 'splashes', heaviest on the wings and tail. Genetically it carries two copies of the blue dilution gene, so splash bred to splash produces all splash, and splash crossed to black gives blue — it is the key to producing good blues. Not a PCGB standard colour, but a full soft-feathered, dual-purpose Orpington.
