About the Wheaten Penedesenca
The Wheaten (Trigueña or Blat) shows the classic wheaten pattern: pale golden-buff hens and darker, richly coloured cocks. It is distinguished within the breed by light slate shanks and toes, with hens carrying a light-horn beak. One of the three lighter laying varieties, it keeps the Penedesenca's hallmark very dark chocolate-brown eggs and lobed carnation comb.
