About the Black Phoenix

The Black Phoenix is a self-black variety, solid black plumage carrying a strong green-beetle sheen in good light across the body and the long sweeping tail. Black is one of the six colours formally recognised in Germany, though it is less common than the duckwing patterns. It is kept purely as an ornamental show bird, true to the breed's character as a long-tailed living ornament.
