About the Black Frizzle Plymouth Rock
This is the self-black Plymouth Rock carrying the frizzle gene, a dominant feather modifier that curls each feather outward and forward away from the body, giving a distinctly ruffled, windswept look over the glossy beetle-green black plumage. Frizzling is a structural trait rather than a colour, and Plymouth Rock is among the breeds in which it is established; breeding frizzle to non-frizzle avoids the brittle-feathered homozygous "frazzle". The underlying bird remains a hardy, dual-purpose Black Rock.
