About the Birchen Rosecomb
The Birchen is a silver-patterned variety: a silvery-white hackle and saddle striped or laced over an otherwise black body, with a silver breast lacing, distinguishing it from the gold-toned Brown Red. It is marked by a dark red (mulberry) comb, face and wattles, with black beak, eyes brown and black legs. A scarcer colour kept strictly for exhibition, it shows the breed's characteristic rose comb and white earlobes.
