About the Black Serama

A self-black bird, ideally a solid lustrous black with a green sheen and no leakage of other colour, the Black Serama is one of the earliest accepted American show colours (recognised alongside white and exchequer). The dark plumage emphasises the breed's bold toy-soldier stance — chest thrust out, tail held high — on a chicken barely 25cm tall. Kept purely as a tame ornamental pet that lays tiny cream eggs.
