About the Blue Serama
A self-blue bird showing the slate-grey dilution of black, the Blue Serama was approved in the American standard in January 2023. As a blue (single Bl gene) it does not breed wholly true — blue-to-blue pairings throw black, blue and splash — which is part of why splash was accepted at the same time. The soft even grey-blue plumage flatters the breed's upright, chest-out carriage on the world's smallest, tamest ornamental chicken.
