About the Silkied Serama
Silkied Seramas carry the silkie feather gene, so the feathers lack the barbicels that hold a normal web together — the plumage looks soft, hair-like and fluffy rather than sleek. Unlike frizzle, the silkie gene breeds true and is not linked to lethal problems, so silkied birds can be paired together. Accepted in America and much of Europe but not in Malaysia, where only normal-feathered Seramas are recognised, it remains the same upright, tame ornamental pet — the world's smallest chicken.
