About the Black-Red Shamo
The Black-Red is the classic Shamo wild-type colour: cocks carry rich orange-red hackle, back and saddle with a lustrous black breast, body and tail, while hens are a partridge-type brown. Recognised in the APA standard (with Wheaten as its hen counterpart), it shows off the breed's hard, sparse feathering against the towering, upright frame. No points are given for colour in the standard, the Shamo being judged on its game type and immense muscular presence.
