About the Wheaten Shamo
Wheaten is the hen-side expression of the black-red genetic family and is APA-recognised in the Shamo (often listed female-only). Hens carry a pale, even wheat-gold body shading to darker hackle, while wheaten cocks show lustrous rich orange hackle and saddle, deep red back and a preferred pure-black breast. As with all Shamo it is the statuesque, upright build and hard feathering, not colour, that the standard rewards.
