About the Gold Spangled Sicilian Buttercup
The Gold Spangled is the original and only APA-recognised variety of the breed (admitted 1918). Hens are a warm golden-buff overlaid with regular, oval black spangles arranged in neat parallel rows, while cocks are a rich reddish-orange with a lustrous greenish-black tail. Beneath the trademark cup-shaped comb sits this spangled coat, on a threatened active Mediterranean layer of white eggs.
