About the Silver Spangled Sicilian Buttercup
The Silver Spangled replaces the golden-buff ground of the standard bird with a silver-white base, keeping the same regular black spangling and the breed's distinctive cup-shaped comb. It is a British-developed variety rather than the original Italian colour, and is seldom seen — not recognised by the American Poultry Association, which standardises only the Gold. Like all Buttercups it is an active rare-breed layer of white eggs.
