About the Blue Silkie
Blue Silkies show an even slate- to steel-grey plumage produced by a single blue (Andalusian) gene over a black base, ideally uniform and free of obvious lacing or barring. Because blue does not breed true, a blue-to-blue mating yields blue, black and splash chicks. It is a recognised standard colour with both the PCGB and APA, on the same gentle, broody ornamental Silkie type.
