About the Lavender Silkie
Also called self-blue, the Lavender Silkie is an even, matte dove- to milky silver-grey caused by the recessive lavender dilution gene, which needs a copy from each parent and breeds true. Unlike standard blue, it has no patchy slate or lacing, giving a soft uniform tone throughout. It is APA-recognised (as self-blue) and is distinct genetically from the blue gene despite the superficially similar shade.
