About the Red Silkie
A deep, even orange-red to mahogany self colour across the whole bird, richer and more saturated than the warmer golden tone of a buff. Red is a non-standard Silkie colour, still in development and not yet accepted by the Poultry Club of Great Britain, the APA or the Entente Européenne, so it is found among hobby breeders rather than the show bench. It carries all the usual Silkie hallmarks: fur-like plumage, dark skin and bones, a walnut comb and a fifth toe.
