About the Black Silverudd's Blue

The black variety carries no blue dilution gene, showing dark, often iridescent ebony plumage; cockerels typically carry birchen-style hackle and saddle feathering. Black chicks hatch black with some lighter areas, and breeding two blacks yields only black offspring. It shares the breed's calm, cold-hardy temperament and the hallmark naturally green egg.
