About the Blue Silverudd's Blue
The blue variety carries a single copy of the blue dilution gene, giving a slate to deeper blue-grey plumage, sometimes solid and sometimes with darker lacing or patches; blue chicks hatch grey. Crossing blue to blue throws the classic 1:2:1 black/blue/splash spread, so blue is the heterozygous middle form. As with all Silverudd's Blue, it is a calm, cold-hardy Swedish breed laying naturally green eggs.
