About the Blue Wheaten Sulmtaler
A modern variant in which the blue dilution gene softens the wheaten ground, replacing the cock's black breast and tail markings with slate-blue and giving hens a cooler, smoky cast over the gold. Blue wheaten was only accepted in Austria in 2013 and remains very rare, even beside the already-uncommon gold form. It keeps the breed's calm temperament, neat crest and dual-purpose Styrian table qualities, laying the same cream to light-brown eggs.
