About the Black Sultan
A solid black version of the Sultan, carrying the same crest, beard, muff, vulture hocks, feathered legs and fifth toe as the white but in lustrous black plumage. It is not recognised in the British Poultry Standards or by the American Poultry Association — the Entente Europeenne lists a black variant without recognising it, and US bantam Blacks are accepted only by the American Bantam Association. The colour is generally attributed to historic crosses with Polish, making it scarcer still than the rare white.
