About the Blue Sultan
Blue Sultans show the slate-grey, laced blue plumage produced by a single dose of the blue dilution gene acting on black, so breeding blue to blue throws blue, black and splash offspring rather than a true line. The colour is not recognised in the British Poultry Standards or by the American Poultry Association — only the American Bantam Association standardises Blue Sultan bantams — and like the black it is linked to past Polish crosses. The signature crest, beard, vulture hocks, feathered legs and fifth toe remain unchanged.
