About the Columbian Sussex
"Columbian" is the formal name for the classic Sussex marking pattern — a white body with black neck-hackle striping, black tail and black wing points — the same scheme that defines the Light Sussex and gives several other breeds (Columbian Wyandotte, Light Brahma) their look. In Sussex this Columbian-patterned bird is the breed's signature, a tinted-egg layer with the usual sound dual-purpose build.
