About the Coronation Sussex
The Coronation Sussex carries the Light's Columbian markings but with soft lavender (blue) replacing the black on neck and tail, giving a pale pastel bird. Created for the 1937 coronation of Edward VIII — which never happened after his abdication — it had all but vanished by the Second World War and was later re-created; the lavender is a recessive trait, making it scarce. It otherwise keeps the breed's tinted-egg, dual-purpose nature.
