About the Mixed Swedish Flower Hen
As a true landrace, the Swedish Flower Hen is not bred to a fixed colour but to its signature millefleur "flowered" pattern: each feather tipped with a white spot over a variable base of black, blue, buff or red, so no two birds are alike and white speckling increases with every moult. A mixed flock therefore shows the full spread of base colours, occasionally including crested birds and the rare black-tipped "Snow Leopard" form. Hardy and self-reliant, these dual-purpose birds lay tinted eggs and remain a scarce survivor of Sweden's old farmyard stock.
