About the Buff Vorwerk
Buff is the Vorwerk's defining and essentially sole colour: a deep golden-buff body framed by a velvety-black head, hackle and tail in the belted pattern borrowed from the Lakenvelder, over slate-grey underfluff and set off by white earlobes. The buff is what distinguishes it from the white-bodied Lakenvelder, hence the misnomer "Golden Lakenvelder". The standard ideal calls for clean buff with no black ticking, which is notoriously hard to fix. A hardy, active dual-purpose layer of cream eggs, it remains rare outside continental Europe.
