About the Gold Welbar
The Gold Welbar comes from the standard Gold Welsummer used over the barred base, so it shows the familiar warm gold-and-black Welsummer-type colouring on a barred ground: cocks black-marked on hackle, wings and tail with gold-barred breast, hens richly striped in black with paler barring on head and hackle. Recognised by the Poultry Club of Great Britain in 1948, it reflects the Welsummer's typical colour. As an autosexing breed its barring sexes day-old chicks, and it lays the Welsummer's prized dark-brown eggs.
