About the Silver Welbar
The Silver Welbar derives from crossing the Silver Duckwing Welsummer into the barred base, giving a predominantly silver-white plumage marked with black on the hackle, wings and tail; hens carry a salmon breast and dark-grey tail over the barred ground. Recognised by the Poultry Club of Great Britain alongside the Gold in 1948, it is the scarcer of the two colours. Like all Welbars it is autosexing, the barring letting day-old chicks be told apart, and it lays the Welsummer's dark-brown eggs.
