About the Silver Duckwing Welsummer
A silver counterpart to the standard partridge: the duckwing pattern replaces the warm gold and chestnut tones with silvery white. Hens show a silvery-white head and hackle with a salmon to robin-red breast and a grey back finely speckled with black, while cocks carry white head, hackle and back contrasting a black breast with white mottling. Recognised in the UK standard but considerably scarcer than partridge; it lays the same deep brown Welsummer egg and underpinned the development of the autosexing Welbar.
