About the Blue Laced Red Wyandotte
A deep mahogany-red body with each feather laced in soft slate-blue rather than black — a much-admired but genetically unstable pattern. Because the blue gene is co-dominant, blue-laced parents also throw splash-laced and black-laced (red-and-black) chicks, so it does not breed true. It is not APA-recognised, making well-marked birds scarce; type and large brown eggs follow the breed standard.
