About the Columbian Wyandotte
A white-bodied bird with black confined to the neck hackle, tail and wing markings — the classic Columbian "points only" pattern. It arose from a chance cross of white Wyandottes with barred Plymouth Rocks and was named for the 1893 Columbian Exposition in Chicago; it became the genetic basis for several later restricted-pattern fowls. APA-recognised in 1905, it lays large brown eggs.
