About the Wild Type Grey Diamond Dove

The original wild-type colour: a slate blue-grey bird whose wing coverts carry the namesake white 'diamond' spots edged in black, with red eyes set in an orange-red eye-ring. Cocks show a clean blue-grey head, neck and breast; hens are tinged brown with a smaller eye-ring. This is the ancestral form of this tiny, gentle Australian aviary dove from which all colour mutations derive.
