About the White Ring-necked Dove

The White Ringneck is a pure-white bird and, alongside fawn, one of the two oldest domesticated forms kept long before the modern colour mutations. Its white is an extreme-dilute sex-linked condition that is recessive to both dark and fawn — distinct from true albino, so it keeps normally pigmented dark eyes rather than the pink eyes of an albino. The familiar magician's and release "white dove" is this calm, tameable Barbary form.
