About the Pinkish-Brown With Black-Spotted Breast Band Senegal Dove

The wild-type plumage of the Laughing (Senegal) Dove: pinkish-brown underparts and a lilac-tinged head, with a chequered rufous-and-grey half-collar of split black-tipped feathers across the throat and sides of the neck — the 'black-spotted breast band' that gives this variety its name. Upperparts are brownish with a bluish-grey wing band and white-tipped outer tail feathers; young birds lack the neck markings entirely. This is the standard colour of a tame, soft-voiced African aviary dove.
