About the Brown With Black Barring Zebra Dove
This is the wild-type Zebra Dove: brownish-grey upperparts overlaid with fine black-and-white barring, and pinkish underparts marked by black bars along the sides of the neck, breast and belly that give the species its zebra-striped name. A blue-grey face with bare blue eye-skin and white-tipped tail feathers complete the look. Small, gentle and tuneful, it is prized for the soft staccato cooing that drives competitive cooing contests across Southeast Asia.
