About the Bluehead Australian Spotted
The Bluehead carries a single dose of the blue dilution gene, softening the drake's head to a blue-grey and turning the body's flecking and spots a bluish-grey rather than the Greenhead's dark brown. The rest of the pattern is unchanged — fawn ground, white neck-ring, burgundy breast and sides, orange feet. It is one of three interbreeding varieties (green/blue/silver behaving like black/blue/splash), and shares the breed's traits as a small, friendly, hardy bantam and the best-laying bantam duck. Not yet recognised by the APA.
