About the Black Blue Swedish

Black Swedish are the homozygous form of the blue gene, so the slate dilution is absent and the body is a solid glossy black — yet they keep the breed's signature white bib (and often white flights), distinguishing them from a plain black duck. They appear naturally from any blue x blue hatch (about 25% of ducklings) and are not recognised in the standards, but pairing a black with a splash bird reliably produces 100% blue offspring. Same hardy, calm dual-purpose duck as the blue.
