About the Blue Swedish

The blue is the only Swedish variety recognised in the standards: a uniform bluish-slate body offset by a clean white bib, with the standard calling for two or three white outer flight (primary) feathers. Genetically heterozygous for the blue dilution gene, it cannot breed true — a blue x blue pairing yields roughly 50% blue, 25% black and 25% splash. Otherwise it carries the breed's calm, hardy, dual-purpose nature: a good forager laying white to tinted eggs.
