About the Mallard Call Duck
Mallard is the wild-type foundation colour of the Call and, with White, one of the two originally standardised in Britain in 1865. The drake shows the classic glossy green head, white neck-ring, claret breast and blue speculum; the duck is mottled brown with the same wing flash. It is the genetic base from which most other Call colours derive.
