About the Buff Crested Duck
The Buff carries a soft, faded fawn-to-apricot plumage — a paled-down colour rather than the solid black or white of the two standardised varieties. Buff is one of several colours bred by enthusiasts but is not recognised by the APA or the UK standard, where only Black and White are accepted (Europe's Entente Européenne lists more and permits any colour). Otherwise it is a typical Crested: active, ornamental, a fair layer of white eggs, and always bred crested to plain because the crest gene is lethal doubled.
