About the White Crested Duck
Pure white plumage paired with the breed's signature pom-pom crest makes this the most familiar and oldest-established Crested variety — it was admitted to the American Standard of Perfection in 1874, and white and black are the only colours recognised by either the APA or UK standards. The clean white feathering shows off the round skull crest to best effect. A decent dual-purpose layer of white eggs; remember the crest gene is lethal in double dose, so always breed crested to plain.
