About the White-Bibbed Dusky Hook Bill
The white-bibbed dusky is coloured like the standard dusky — black head and rump with green lustre over a grey body — but marked with a distinct white chest-bib and white-tipped wing primaries. This bib-and-tipped-primary pattern is its defining feature and is one of the three Hook Bill colours recognised in the UK, the Netherlands and France (UK standardised 1997). It shares the breed's downward-curving bill, foraging ability and blue, green or white eggs, and is likewise critically rare.
