About the Khaki Campbell
The original and dominant variety, named for its uniform soft khaki plumage — a dusky-mallard colour diluted to a farmyard-mud brown. The drake carries a darker, often olive-bronze head with no white neck-ring; the duck is khaki throughout. Crucially, true Campbells show no eye-stripes and the speculum is never brightly coloured, which separates them from the many generic brown ducks mis-sold under the name. This is the prolific layer of the breed, giving around 300 white eggs a year.
