About the Dun And White Magpie Duck
In the dun-and-white variety the patterned areas appear as a warm greyish-brown (dun) instead of black, a lighter dilution of the base pigment carried over the standard white-bodied magpie markings. It was recognised by the Poultry Club of Great Britain alongside the blue in 1997 and is scarcer than the original black. Like every Magpie it is an agile, light-bodied forager and a dependable layer of white to pale-green eggs.
