About the Buff Miniature Crested Duck
The buff Crested Miniature carries an even, soft fawn-buff plumage across the body, the warm shade echoing its Miniature Appleyard ancestry, with the breed's signature crest sitting as a neat ball on the crown. Buff is one of the colours developed by breeders beyond the original black and white; under the UK and European standards the Crested Miniature is admitted in any colour provided the markings are symmetrical, so a clean, uniform buff is exhibitable. Like all crested ducks it must be bred crested-to-plain because the crest gene is lethal in double dose.
